In a world saturated with vibrant colors, there is a timeless elegance and emotional depth found in the simplicity of black and white photography. As a passionate enthusiast, my journey into the realm of monochrome imagery has been a captivating exploration of artistic expression and a celebration of the subtle nuances that define the essence of a moment.
My foray into black and white photography began with a simple fascination for the classic works of iconic photographers such as Ansel Adams and Henri Cartier-Bresson at the ripe old age of 12. My parents built me a darkroom in our un-used cistern attached to our basement. I shot mostly B&W as it was the most affordable and quickest way to get prints. Throughout the years I ventured into many other areas of photography such as wedding, portraiture and most recently landscapes. As an avid fisherman, I am constantly around the beautity of nature and ever changing light variations throughout the day.
Light plays a pivotal role in any form of photography, but in black and white, its influence is heightened. I have come to appreciate the interplay between light and shadow, as they dance across a subject, creating dramatic contrasts and adding depth to the narrative. Experimenting with different lighting conditions from soft, diffused light to harsh shadows, has become a thrilling adventure.
